Dark Tribe - Archaic Visions album cover

German Black Metal has always been one of the underestimated scenes, since it has offered some quite good bands/releases, but has always been hidden in the shadow of Scandinavia. DARK TRIBE is hopefully going to be one more band to be used as a bright example for what Germany can produce...

Hopefully, since the band's third full-length album doesn't seem strong enough to be used as an example for their country's true potential. After the pretty good "In Jeraspunta" (2004), the band spent 6 whole years to record and release anew album, and to tell you the truth I was expecting something the least good. The German duet kind of turned into a bedroom Black Metal project, with a totally flat production that "buries" the guitars. DARK TRIBE suddenly try to imitate the "orthodox" Black Metal sound with schizophrenic melodies, screams and all the well known ingredients, but it just doesn't seem to work.

Ok, it's not such a bad album but when you expect something that would make your ears bleed and you get an average BM release, you are kind of disappointed. I just hope they return to their weird, primitive sound soon enough...
