DARK MATTER is na Iranian that mixes Avantgarde, Doom Metal and extreme melancholic atmosphere on its sound. After two single's, they have thought that it was about time to put out their first album "Nebula To Black Hole" which their have recently release. That being said, lets talk about it.
The opening song from the album is "Except Love" and it has a speech that will probably make you think a little bit about your life and maybe feel a little bit depressive. The instrumental is a background for the message they wanted to share here. "Earthless Child" starts out with a beautiful female lyrical vocals and some atmosphere sound as well, the guitars, bass and drums hits in almost at the end of the song, but it has a nice touch.
"Theory of X" is pretty different from the previous songs and it starts out with some Death Metal guitar riffs and it has a pretty aggressive and dark guttural vocal. There's some female vocals here as well and the mix between both the guttural and the lyrical was just amazing. "Imperfect Universe" starts out with some different guitar sound and more female vocals as well. It has a nice percussion and bass sound as well. Its definetely a heavy song and I really like how they put the female vocals on a more melodic way and let the instrumental be more aggressive.
"Void Wor(l)d" is acapella song and it only has beautiful vocal choirs that will calm down yourself and great instrumental sound too.
"Funeral Pt.1" starts out with a dark and melancholic piano that creates the ambiance for the heavy and deep speech that comes in. "Funeral Pt.2" starts out with a sinthesizer sound and some piano arrangements that creates the ambiance for the narration that comes in. This song has a mix of guttural vocals, female vocals, aggressive parts and more calm as well. Its definetely a good song to listen to.
"Black Hole" is the song that closes the album and it starts out with a dialogue between a woman and a man and it grows slowly with the instrumental parts, until there's some really orchestral and melancolhic vibe on it. A beautiful piano hits in and some more speeches comes along.
DARK MATTER have written and released a great album for the fans of the style. I believe that most people that are into that kind of sound will definetely feel happy while listening to it, because its a good work with tons of great musicians and songwriters taking part on it. Cool stuff.
