Have you ever witnessed with your eyes a band that is both active when it comes to studio recordings and live shows, records regularly, releases albums regularly, yet they somehow don't receive a normal amount of support? Yep. Too many times when it comes to me, so I'm going to present you a Spanish band called DANTALION with one of their many releases, the brand new one from 2016, "...and All Will Be Ashes", released on December 20th, via Sleaszy Rider Records.
If you're not too familiar with DANTALION they have been active since 2004, and have released a fair amount of material since then; a total of 6 full-length albums, a promo and a compilation. The band's debut "When the Raves Fly over Me" (2006) saw the band pursue a raw Black Metal sound, which wasn't a bad direction, but their current tonal options seem to be a finer fit for them.
That so called new sound can be heard exactly two years later on their 2008 record called "Call of the Broken Souls". It was an unexpected change, but since they were a new band back then, shifting from one genre to another one wasn't a big problem, neither for them, and neither for their audience, which, let's be honest, was much smaller than today. The Death and Doom Metal mix in the sound remained with them ever since, and it can be heard on their newest record too. The album came out as a limited edition Digipak CD and I would like to highlight some of my favorite songs from the record that all of you should check out: the six-minute opus "A River of Depravation", the five-minute track "Desperation Nights" and "Shadows Doomed to Die". These are my favorites from the album, but the rest are fine too. Hopefully you're going to like them too.
