Danko Jones - Wild Cat album cover

It just goes to show that first impressions can often be entirely wrong, long story short that you shouldn't jump to conclusions within the first few seconds of trying something new. This applied heavily when you first press play on the new DANKO JONES record entitled 'Wild Cat'. This feisty album is now available to those wanting to bring out their inner sexy, wild side.

For those of you who haven't heard the works of DANKO JONES, here is some more information. They formed in the year 1996 and are originally from Toronto, Canada. For two years, they toured around North Eastern USA and Canada; they opened for the likes of BLONDE REDHEAD, THE DEMOLITION DOLL RODS and NASHVILLE PUSSY. A couple of decades later they have been through line-up changes, countless tours and an impressive discography that has recently been topped by 'Wild Cat'.

Explaining further about first impressions in the first paragraph, one did feel at first the opening track 'I Gotta Rock' was quite weak. More like a cute kitten trying to be a wild cat but that's just one opinion that people won't always agree with. However, the next track 'My Little RnR' was the one that perked the attention with it's upbeat, sexy rhythm that will make you want to dance the night away. From this point on the album was a great one to listen to. This sassy record has a great selection of tunes that will make even the stiffest people into dancing machines. Other tracks that will encourage this are 'Do This Every Night', 'Wild Cat' and 'Diamond Lady'.

The pounding rhythm from 'Do This Every Night' will encourage those feet to tap, fingers to snap and those hands to claps. The memorable line 'I Wanna Do This Every Night' will be the thing fans will sing along to at live shows whilst having a great time dancing. 'Wild Cat' reminds one of that seventies classic 'Tiger Feet' by MUD. The same sort of rhythm and that same vibe from a seventies rock classic that everyone will want to be part of. The up-tempo rhythm at the beginning of 'Diamond Lady' is one worth trying to keep up with, this is the song with quick feet moves and singing along to first lines that will no doubt make your throat sore. The album ends on the empowering note of 'Revolution (But Then We Make Love)'; it is every rocker's anthem nowadays. All of us want to start some sort of revolution against the powers of B but do with love.

Overall, a great rock album to listen to.
