Harbinger of Chaos
Dan Baune’s Lost Sanctuary

Thrash Metal for its true roots is a melodic Metal genre. You all must have in mind that bands as MOTÖRHEAD, JUDAS PRIEST and NWOBHM acts had a huge impact on the creation of the genre, and it can be heard on METALLICA’s musical work on “Kill ‘Em All” and (especially) “Ride the Lightning”. It’s obvious that ANTHRAX and MEGADETH followed a similar path of METALLICA, and SLAYER - that had the same influences - looked for its own way into brutality. And following the same path on melodic ways in Thrash Metal is the quartet DAN BAUNE’S LOST SANCTUARY, and “Harbinger of Chaos” (the band’s second full-length).
Dan Baune is the producer (who worked with the recordings, mixing and mastering of the album), and everything was done at Tectonic Tone studio, on Germany. And the sonority is clean and defined, with a balance between the melodic and aggressive sides of the band’s music; and it allows the songs to be fully understood without problems. And the artwork and layout of Andy Pilkington create a fine ambience for the quartet’s musical expressions. As guests, here are Aliki Katriou (the Greek singer of DESOLATION PLAINS, AKKT, CHAOS RISING, TATTERED PAGES and EIGHT LIVES DOWN) on the female vocals on “Lamia’s Call”, and Martin Kesici (solo artist who previously was the singer of ENRICHMENT and THE CORE, and who’s a radio host as well, and one of the winners of the 2003's casting show Star Search) on additional vocals on “Eye of the Storm”.
They’re a Melodic Thrash Metal/Power Metal act, but pay attention: their melodic load doesn’t come directly from NWOBHM, But - as the words above states clearly - from German Power Metal (as the QUEEN-like backing vocals on “Lamia’s Call”) and classic Hard Rock, what puts a lot of different elements on the mix in a way that fans of Power Metal will love their music as well. It’s full of energy, with a fine balance between aggressiveness and melodies, a charming technical appeal in many parts, and the melodic hooks are hard to resist to. What are you expecting?
“Calloused Heart” (a feeling of something between MOTÖRHEAD and ACCEPT can be felt, with charming chorus and very good melodic guitar riffs), “Chasing the Dragon” (that clearly brings the NWOBHM influences into their music into evidence, with charming melodies and caustic and heavy work on bass guitar and drums), “Lamia’s Call” (excellent melodic contrasts, and the shifts between male, female and guttural tunes are great), “Ocean Grey (Memento Mori)”, “Harbinger of Chaos” (here a faster moment with contrast between aggressive moments under a melodic tack), “Cosmic Serenade” (a pure breed German Heavy Metal song), “Eye of the Storm” (the filthy load of MOTÖRHEAD and Thrash Metal influences are evident, and what great vocals), “Not Alone” (a climatic and melancholic moment), “Unbeliever”, “Rhapsody of Death” and “Desolate Eternity” (this is a bonus song with a heavier appeal on the slow moments) are excellent songs to be heard and enjoyed. And as another bonus, here is a radio edit for “Chasing the Dragon” (what means it's a shorter edition of the same song).
For a second full-length, DAN BAUNE’S LOST SANCTUARY is showing an unexpected high level of musical quality, so dive into “Harbinger of Chaos” with tooth and nail. You won’t regret it!
