Formed in 2015 and hailing from Greece, Black Metal band CULT OF EIBON present their debut full-length album here titled "Black Flame Dominion." The album contains eight tracks. "The Fiery Pillars of Ninazu" opens the album, with a slow and steady dose of keys. It is over before you know it. "Into the Realm of Na-Girt-A-Lu" opens with a discernable guitar riff, which is a bit unusual for the genre. Keys play in support, and the vocals are vile raspy screams. The production is pretty bad, in addition to the riff being elementary. The quality of the songwriting is amateur at best.

"The Dreamer and the Morning Star" isn't much better. The guitars are thick with effects...mostly phaser and chorus, while the keys play single "Dungeon Synth" types notes in the background. It sounds like it was recorded on a four-track in your basement. "Phaesphoros" begins in much of the same way. There is some semblance of order here, but the drums and vocals carry much of the sound. The guitar work isn't awful, but it isn't very inventive either. Some bass notes can actually be heard here too. The title track bring more amateur qualities to the table, thought the vocals aren't too shabby here. The main riff is a little bit inventive as well...just a little.

"Recollections from the Chthonian Empire" is much faster in pace, with those drums rolling over everything in their path. It settles into a slower groove, where vocals shouts dominate, and those single key notes return. "Crossing the Stargate of Xitalu" features some vocal variation with the addition of backing vocals that are deep and deadly. It at least makes the song somewhat interesting to listen to. "The Mournful Chime of Charon's Bell" begins with bell strikes and footsteps but that is where the effects end. Charon is, of course, the boatman on the river Styx. The song postures as scary but really isn't very effective in the end.

Black Metal, black metal, black metal, why do you do this to me? For once, this album is not a carbon copy of the NWOBHM. Unfortunately, it is still pretty bad. Trite riffs, half-screams for vocals, and of course they never-ending drums create an utterly forgettable listening experience. Add in the fact that this barely registers above the amateur setting, and the fact that they are signed to a record label, and your hair will fall out from all the scratching.
