Cryptopsy - The Unspoken King album cover

When I first heard that I was going to review CRYPTOPSY's brand new full-length offering I was definitely pleasantly surprised since CRYPTOPSY is one of my favorite technical Death Metal bands. Unfortunately, my initial enthusiasm turned into a huge dilemma. Shall I judge CRYPTOPSY as the brutal Death Metal act we all know or as a new band that makes its first steps?

Need I say anything about what this band has achieved? The Canadian extreme metallers have been one of the leading acts in the technical Death Metal scene since 1992. The band has offered some classic samples of pure sickness like Blasphemy Made Flesh (1994) and None So Vile (1996). The thing is that as the years passed by the band started showing its secret love towards the modern Metal scene, something that the extreme Metal fans are not willing to tolerate.

When I first listened to the album I was really amazed to be honest. And yes, if you are a fan of Deathcore bands like JOB FOR A COWBOY and ALL SHALL PERISH and you would prefer them to have some slight Mathcore influences, then The Unspoken King is an album that will kick your sorry ass.

But let's get back to reality and see things as they really are. CRYPTOPSY is a fucking Death Metal band! This album is not what this band is all about! I mean, what do keyboards and clean vocals have to do with these guys? This CRYPTOPSY's fucking worst album ever! We don't need any modern stuff from these guys! They are what they are and their fans want CRYPTOPSY, not a somethingcore band!

I really won't spend any more of my and your time for this abomination. This band is dead and let's just hope for a resurrection. If they keep up like this they will even lose the fans that have remained by their side. Wake up CRYPTOPSY!!!
