Continuum
Cryogen

Based on the material of this record, CRYOGEN sounds to me like just another band among your run-of-the-mill Melodic Death Metal bands, that don't actually bring anything new to the subgenre, like this myriad of new bands that all sound alike and follow the same formula.
The CRYOGEN sound does indeed display excellent musicianship and a great amount of talent, and that's something I would give them credit for. But that technical virtuosity unfortunately doesn't go anywhere. It's just Melodic Death Metal for the heck of it. On most tracks, vocals are dull and the music is just emotionless. I do however like some tracks in particular, namely "Rama I", it's quite catchy. The occasional string passages help spice things up and they are very well done, especially in "Capgras Delusion".
The highlights of this album are definitely the two tracks mentioned above, since they somehow break the tedious feeling of this record. Overall, there's nothing in particular to complain about in this album, it's just that it has absolutely nothing outstanding about it. Those guys are very skillful and can manage to write good material. Still, the music remains kind of flat. It's something you'd just listen to and then just forget about. I really think that CRYOGEN's sound would be much better if they take another direction other than this mediocre and repetitive "Melolic Death Metal".
