Bursting forth from the gates of hell are Sweden natives, CRUCIFYRE, with their second full-length album release, "Black Magic Fire". The album was released in August of 2014 with ten tracks and an ear busting 43 minutes of listening time. The genre is described as Olde Metal, but to save myself from going through all the new genres of metal that have sprung up over the last few years, I'm going to go with Black Metal, as if the name didn't scream that to begin with.

The album starts with "Apocalypse Whore". This track is heavy but starts with an ultra-light metal with an angelic undertone with the insertion of the clean vocals along with the female vocals. This is where their talent shines through because it shows that not only can they produce blast beats from hell, they can put their sound in to something that is so toned down. The track then bursts into the albums sound; dark, heavy, and emotional with growls and grunts along with classic blast beat drums, and dark guitars with a low and heavy bass back up.

As the album progressed, I felt like I had heard the album before. After listening to it a few more times, I noticed it wasn't because the album lacks creativity or musicianship. It was because it lacked originality. It has some great heavy metal undertones in the guitar riffs. It also has a high level of talent. The music is written well and performed even better.

"Black Magic Fire" is some hard-core heavy music with some pretty amazing musicianship. While there is tons of creative work throughout the album, "Black Magic Fire" sounds too familiar. The similarities to other music of this genre are high, but I don't think that takes away from the overall sound too much. These guy show extreme knowledge of black metal and have shown they have the musically ability with this release. It is worthy of a spot in your collection.
