CROWN THE EMPIRE is a poppy, Metalcore band that hails from Dallas, Texas. The band was conceived in 2010. This sophomore album "The Resistance: Rise Of The Runaways" is a perfect blend of pop and metal. The opening track "A Call To Arms (Act 1)" is a sample filled intro more than a song, which ushers in the melody & brutality to come perfectly. Songs such as "Initiation, and Millennia" are so catchy it is difficult not get the hooks and melodies trapped in your brain. Like it or not this bubble gum brand of Metalcore is destined for success do to the fact that the songs are so well written, and bridge the gap between pop, and Metalcore. The heavy parts are indeed heavy, whilst the more melodious, poppy passages are undeniably hooky and well structured. There is a little filler I feel on this release, but it more than made up by the strong songs scattered throughout. "The Wolves Of Paris, and Satellites," being the worst of the aforementioned filler. The album ends with a masterful song that spans multiple genres from Opera, to Pop & beyond into traditional Metal, and Metalcore. CROWN THE EMPIRE may not strike a chord with everyone. But for those who enjoy Pop music stylings, Metalcore, and well-written tunes filled to the brim with atmosphere and "sing along" choruses...look no further! WELCOME TO THE RESISTANCE!
