Gods Of Insane
Crack O Dawn

When I got this album I started reading the bio sheet that was contained inside and I have to admit that I was kind of intrigued by what was mentioned in there. The band's mentioned as influences are some of my favorites so when I read about names like ENTOMBED, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and MACHINE HEAD I immediately pressed the "play" button to see what was in store for me.
Well, I can't say that the German quartet was exactly what I expected. Their debut album "Gods Of Insane" is a bit different from what the label describes. CRACK O DOWN surely got the groove, but I can't say that I found any Death & Roll stuff in here. Anyway, the Berlin based metallers reminded me a lot of HELLYEAH and their groovy Stoner-like Nu Metal sound. A lot of METALLICA and SLIPKNOT here, too. Thealbum presents some pretty decent ideas with catchy riffs, which surely is where the band is mostly based on, but these ideas end up sounding all the same after some spins. Even though CRACK O DAWN seem to have the potential to play music that can stick into your mind, they unfortunately don't manage to do it in "Gods Of Insane". Not even the guest appearances offer much more here, except for the Ralf Scheepers song which is kind of different compared to the other songs in here and can be described as a pretty damn good Heavy Metal tune.
Pretty mediocre release if you ask me but I see a glimmer of hope in this band's music. If they work a bit harder I guess they will offer some nice and catchy music in the near future. Until then...
