CORELEONI is a band founded by the Swiss musician Leo Leoni, known for his work with the famous Hard Rock act GOTTHARD. Leoni came up with the idea to create this band, because he figured out that he couldn't play the songs from the early days of his main band, because they should always play the most famous one and there wasn't enough time to play some old classics of his career. The band just released their second album entitled "II" which is a promise of a great Hard Rock explosion and that's what we are going to talk about today.
The opening song from the album is titled "Waltz" and it's a piece of a classical music, which created the perfect ambiance for the explosion that's about to come on the next song. "Standing In The Light" starts out with a heavy and killer guitar riff that are completed by amazing drums and bass sound. There are great vocals and the stanzas are really catchy as well, but the highlight goes to the chorus that you make you start singing as soon as it comes in. I loved how this song sound and it's a very energetic and powerful song to start the album.
The next song "Love For Money" starts out with a traditional guitar and drums arena kind of sound and then the drive vocals comes in completing the ecstasy. It's the perfect song to play at a stadium and it's totally 80's vibe and ambiance. The vocals really impressed me in this one. They really "Open Fire" on this one. It has great riffs, energy and wow it's incredible to see that these guys can still sound like the 80's and rock all around. The stanza vocal lines and instrumental are just perfect and the bridge... wow. The chorus is just awesome and the guitar solo will set you on fire.
We have a calmer song called "Angel" and it starts with a beautiful guitar solo that is followed by some heavy groovy bass and drums. The bass keeps sounding along the song and the guitar plays some arrangements as the vocals makes you feel in ecstasy. It's a kind of a ballad and the chorus will make you sing it out loud and it gave me goosebumps. Oh, "She Goes Down" starts out with a groovy guitar riff and a really heavy bass sound. It's the kind of song that will make you open a beer, party and just go crazy. The bridge is really cool and the chorus is perfect for you to bang your head and scream it out loud.
"No Tomorrow" starts out with some weird voices in the background while there's a synthesizer creating a cool ambiance. The vocal lines and instrumentals on this one are perfect. It has some cool varieties, as it switches from heavy parts to calmer ones with the synth and bass creating the right vibe. This song has probably one of the best guitar solos on the whole album and it's beautiful. "I'm Your Travellin' Man" starts out with a cool vibe that even reminded me of WHITESNAKE and it sounds progressive as the song grows as the instruments starts to create the mood for the highlight which is the powerful chorus. I liked how they used a talk box pedal on the solo, it feels cool and original on the album.
"Make My Day", "Mountain Mama", "Queen Of Hearts" and "Don't Get Me Wrong" are cool songs and that has an absurd kind of energy and power. They all have great instrumentals, guitars and powerful vocals. It's going to make you crazy. Just like the album starts it ends with "Padrino" being a piece of a classical music played on a violin.
CORELEONI wrote, recorded and released one of the best Hard Rock albums of the year. The production, the execution of each instrument and the songs are perfect. They deserve all the prizes and we couldn't expect anything less from this huge team, right?
