The use of satanic themes on lyrics of Death Metal is an inheritance of the 80's, especially because some pioneers used such themes due the influence of VENOM and SLAYER on the genre (have in mind that POSSESSED used it on "Seven Churches", and MORBID ANGEL take it to the extremes on "Altars of Madness" and "Blessed are the Sick"). Of course that during the 90's, the blend known as Death/Death Metal made things clearer, but there are many Death Metal acts using the darker lyrics, as the Italian quartet CONTINUUM OF XUL, what can be heard clearly on "Falling into Damnation".

The band's music is a form of Death Metal influenced by names as IMMOLATION, MORBID ANGEL and others from North American Old School Death Metal acts, with a very good technical work on the musical instruments, sometimes fast and brutal, slow and bitter on others, and always in a balanced form that's full of energy. Of course the band must mature a bit more to escape from the shadows of their musical influences, but they're on the right path to do so. The sonority of "Falling into Damnation" is based on the second generation of 90's Death Metal records (as "Covenant", "Transcend the Ribicon", "Legion" and "War Master"): brutal and aggressive, but in a defined way that makes things clear for anyone that hears to their work. The tunes chosen for the guitars, bass and drums are really very good, creating a link between the past and the present.

After the intro "Hellmouth" comes a brutal and technical song, "I Shall Be Thy Lord" (with a very good work of the bass guitar and drums on the rhythmic guiding lines), with a very good contrasts of speed. And it's followed by the slow and nasty "Dreaming in the Underworld", a song that evokes the same darkened and somber set of ambiences heard on songs as "God of Emptiness" (and what lovely sets of guitars riffs and arrangements), and what good technical parts. And bring back the fast tempos comes "Blasphemous Redemption (Praise the Flame)", with very good 'dolanian' vocals in the middle of the chaotic Death Metal hooking arrangements. And closing this EP, a version of the quartet for "An Equinox of Fathomless Disheartenment", an old ABSU song inherited from "Barathrum: V.I.T.R.I.O.L." (the first album of the Texan trio), from the age when the trio still had some Death Metal influences.

After hearing to this EP, even saying that CONTINUUM OF XUL needs to sharpen their musical efforts a bit more, it depicts that the quartet needs to release an album as a sequence for "Falling into Damnation".
