Conjureth - The Parasitic Chambers album cover

There aren't too many bands that start up and are able to build such positive feedback with the material they have released like Californian death metal band CONJURETH. The band has been receiving high praise since the release of their first demo in 2020 called Foul Formations. Later in the same year they followed it up with another four track demo titled The Levitation Manifest. Before the year was finished, the band put out a compilation album which was essentially a combination of the two demos. In 2021, they were back in the studio working on a full length effort titled Majestic Dissolve which was finished up and released a week before Halloween. Since their beginning in 2018, these guys have gained momentum and followers and have now started off 2023 with their second full length offering The Parasitic Chambers.

The album has splattered points of black metal alongside death metal with rapid paced guitars and a deep diabolic howl in the vocals. The opening track "Smothering Psalms" is a rollercoaster of unhinged metal chaos. The guitars are piercing and creative while being matched note by note with calculatedly timed drums. The second track "Dimensional Ascendancy" picks up right where the first ends without the chance to catch your breath. The bass is layered with intensity in the song, as it blazes through without letting up with a dominant performance that is worth mentioning. "Devastating Cataclysmic Unearthing" is pure brutality as the band is able to deliver a massive sound with this track. The guitars generate and feed off each other as they become a tandem of assaulting riffs.

The album wastes little time between or within songs as there's not more than a few seconds on the release where the band isn't creating noise or producing a staggering pace. To say that the album is fast is a blasphemous understatement. "Cremated Dominion" and "Deathless Sway of Torsos Calm" are just pummeling your senses and your head riff after riff. It is safe to say that this release pay's due diligence to old school fast and technical death metal but it breathes a breath of fresh and fiery air into their sound. "The Ancient Presence" has a more chunky and thrashy element from the riffs and also the delivery of the vocals and is a track worth checking out in my books. The solo, though a short one, has an echoing twang to it, giving the effect that it was recorded through an open window while being played outside the studio. "In Mortal Thresholds" features some furious work from the entire band. The guitars seem to reintegrate and transform within themselves giving you the idea that it is simply a new riff after each progression. All around solid technical work by everyone involved in making that song come to life.

As the age of brutal death metal continues with an overwhelming amount of material, new bands and collaborations, there are some albums that stand out on their own. No matter it be for the blazing speed, technical song writing, genres blending or bone crushing brutality, they create separation from the masses and deliver something new to the genre. I believe that this is one of those releases. Word of mouth remains one of the strongest advertising tools to date and the metal community can be tough critics, but the music speaks for itself on this release. Give this one a go and you can be the judge, jury and executioner for yourself.
