Misère de Poussière

Conjonctive

This Deathcore sextet is up to bring some surprises on this full-length.
December 27, 2024

The lands of Switzerland are famous for its industry of chocolate, the banking system and clocks. But no one can’t deny that the country bred important bands to Metal scenes, as HELLHAMMER (one of the core influences for Death Metal and Black Metal), CELTIC FROST (the forefathers of Avant-garde tendencies into Metal with “To Mega Therion” and “Into the Pandemonium”), CORONER (famous for its Techno-Thrash plenty of unusual influences) and some others. And it’s not something unexpected to deal with the Nyon home-based sextet CONJONCTIVE. And maybe it’s not s sin to day that they’re looking for their own way on “Misère de Poussière”.

To say that they’re a Deathcore act isn’t fair with their musical work. It’s obvious that the modern breakdowns and elements can be heard on their music, but it’s plenty of Death Metal/Brutal Death Metal as well, some Groove Death Metal and even Melodic Death Metal traces (pay attention to “Minuit” to check such elements), giving to their music a different taste. And there are moments when the unexpected happens, surprising the hearers due some turns on the tempos, some amazing and intense blast beats, an amazing energy, but always being brutal and oppressive, even with such modern appeal (as heard clearly on “Ombre et Ordure”). The band has a personality that is only starting to be shown.

Recorded by Vladimir Cochet at Conatus Studios, and mixed and mastered by Miguel Tereso at Demigod Recordings, the sonority resulting from such works is something that can be said as different: the modern load isn’t as great as expected (besides some instrumental tunes are into such ways), defined and brutal on the other hand, but always understandable. And the artwork of Shindy Design is really astonishing and shocking.

The band shows a very good work on the 10 songs of “Misère de Poussière”, and it’s not a sin to say that fans of traditional ways of Death Metal and of modern tendencies of Deathcore must tase the album, because “Il Pleut sur les Cendres”, “Summer Hunt”, “Misère de Poussière”, “Ombre et Ordure”, “Dying Melody”, “Minuit”, “Décembre Noir”, “Un Dimanche Sanglant”, “Nocturnal Terror” and “Au Royaume des Ombres” have a lot to offer to them. It’s clear that the puritans will complain as Hell, but it’s the reason for their existence, and nothing more.

As a third release, too much was expected of CONJOCTIVE, but “Misère de Poussière” passed on the test. Taste it!
