Communic - Waves Of Visual Decay album cover

At first I was thrilled by the fact that I got my hands on a Grindcore CD (like those Panagiotis takes for review most of the time - all hail the urethra of Satan) since my player counted 99 songs (I prefer 69 as a number). Then I was disappointed when I told that this was the known anti-piracy trick of breaking down each song into 657 pieces. Yeah, that's totally bullet-proof since there are no programs capable of joining those dissected songs together. I wouldn't try programs like CDex if I was you...
Communic is based in Norway. Just because of that they get a thumbs up from me. The band formed back in 2003 by guitarist/vocalist Oddleif Stensland and drummer Tor Atle Andersen (both ex-Scariot) only to be joined very soon by Erik Mortensen on bass. Their debut album was released in 2005 and was titled Conspiracy In Mind, once again through Nuclear Blast Records (but in less dissected songs).
As I recall their debut, I have to say that the band has done an impressive step ahead. Their debut was a DAMN CLONE case of Nevermore's music. Yes, in their second album they are still heavily influenced by the aforementioned act from Seattle but their music is definitely more focused and with a distinct identity. So, take Nevermore's first couple of albums, add LOTS of depression and you have a pretty good taste of what this one sounds like. Thumbs up for the band's ability to write really complex songs that somehow manage not to bore the listener. Indeed, I listened to the album several times in a row and I was amazed every time by the level of detail their compositions carry.
Fans of modern Heavy Metal will fall in love with this one. Songs I picked up out of the bunch (though all of them are damn good): Frozen Asleep In The Park, My Bleeding Victim and Watching It All Disappear.
