Colosseum - Chapter 1: Delirium album cover

Doom Metal:A form of heavy metal that emerged as a recognized metal sub-genre in the early/mid-1980s. Bands like CANDLEMASS, CATHEDRAL, WITCHFINDERL GENERAL, SAINT VITUS etc have written the history of Doom. But COLOSSEUM's 'funeral' doom metal is for third division.
Funeral doom is a style that takes the slowness of doom metal to further extremes, and that puts a strong emphasis on an atmosphere of despair and emptiness. If you are searching something like this, you should listen to bands like ThERGOPHON or SHAPE OF DESPAIR. The only thing that COLLOSEUM will bring is sleep. Not much to say about the band's history. COLLOSEUM was born in 2006 by Juhani of YEARNING. He wanted to play something dark and powerful in their debut album, Chapter 1: Delirium. Well, it didn't work.
You may not listen one note every once in a while. But when you have six tracks and the playing time of the CD is over an hour, trying to mix Doom Metal with the strong influences from both Dark Ambient and Orchestral Works, as they say, the result is a boring, dull, CD. It's like listening to one song and put in on repeat! I tried many times to listen all the tracks in one time, but it was impossible. I managed to listen the whole CD just once. At least I discovered a good medicine for insomnia!
If you like 'funeral' doom metal, listen to the bands previously mentioned. Or another band you know. But not this one! Chapter 1: Delirium is one of the worst albums (but not the worst, that's why the extra point) I ever listened to! No one has money to spend, so go for something else.
