The Enemy Within

As you have already understood, I am a person that tries to understand several things regarding a release by its cover. This time I couldn't be more wrong. I knew a Black Metal band by the name CODE and the cover is a bit misleading. So, do you want to know what CODE are all about? To tell you the truth, what I found out was a bit of a letdown.
So, CODE is an American/Swedish band that was formed in 2004. Consisting of three members (even though some sites say that they also have a drummer, the well-known Gregg Bissonette), who have previously played in bands like SHERWOOD BALL N' CHAIN and GRAND ILLUSION, the band signed to Escape Music. The result of this contract is this debut album, The Enemy Within.
Anyway, nothing important to be mentioned in this US Hard Rock/AOR release. The drums come straight from a PC and have this irritating MIDI sound that is piercing your ears. The band completely lacks of inspiration and is more than obvious from the riffs, which are stolen from well-known Metal songs. Just listen to the first riff of the track The Enemy Within and you will understand what I'm saying. Every single track reminds me of something else. It's just that some bands have to understand that being classic is not a bad thing, but repeating classic stuff IS a bad thing. The lack of fresh ideas in this genre has become pretty tiring. I have no other things to say about this album. I barely managed to listen to it more than two times...
If you are a die-hard Hard Rock/AOR fan, you may find this album a bit more decent than I did. I respect the lack of inspiration, but I am against the obvious copy/paste methods! Judge for yourselves, I have more important albums to review.
