Circle Of Infinity

The new year is here and so is CIRCLE OF INFINITY so awaited new album entitled "Moments Of Evil" and the awaiting was worthy because this is one of the best albums released in awhile here in Brazil, lots of bands here in Brazil do sound the same, I mean you are either a Death Metal or a Power Metal band and the outcome is always the same, CIRCLE OF INFINITY stands out from the other bands because of their approach and searching for perfection, a mix of Death and Thrash with lots of technique and brutality, so the result is a monster on the loose crushing everything onto its path. Despite this being their second album, the first one was an EP released in 2011 called "Scream For Your Life"; since then the band had a few changes of members, recruited were: Allan for the guitar, Mateus for the bass and last but not least Alexandre Bento for the drums.
All started out in 1980 when they were called MASSACRE and back then SEPULTURA didn't even exist, the only survivor of that golden era is Edson "Big Foot" Moraes, so there was a big gap between then and now but the Metal spirit only became stronger and Edson went on with his dream of one day to return wiser and more hungry for Metal and now that dream has been fulfilled and for me it is a honour to review this CD because I have been with them since the very beginning and seeing all the hardship and struggle that they went through and now it feels good to see the task accomplished.
So the CD opens with a cool Intro "We Fight" very well arranged and a prelude of what is coming and "Dark souls" blows onto your face, very catching riffs and Edson's vocals are powerful and hash, lots of variations a good mix of Death and Thrash and killer solos by Allan, now you can "Take My Fear, Take My Mind" a very heavy song, the beginning sounds a bit like AUTOPSY which is very cool indeed, great song, you feel all the anger from Edson and the chorus is very cool too, Bento behind the skins does a superb job so tidy like a Swiss watch while Mateus bass adds that cool heaviness to the song, just over five minutes and you don't get bored at all. "Moments Of Evil" is one of my favourites, cool solos all the way, now days I see lots of bands not doing solos at all, in my opinion solos are crucial and they must be there and CIRCLE OF INFINITY know that and they don't disappoint at all, again lots of tempo variations and you are left wondering what is next, that's good!
Even though the band has its roots in the 80s their sound is very modern and yet they have not lost the essence, and now my favourite track that resumes who we really are, "Headbanger" hate, energy, aggression, speed, what else really? great solos, amazing vocals, I can feel the cold going down my spine, totally rules!!! Lets "Wake Up And Fight" the battle never ends, this is a very cool song too, arrangements are top notch, very technical musicians, guitars all over the place working together in harmony and the vocals are just too aggressive, I mean fucking cool indeed, I think I need a "Cycle Of Therapy"; another killer track, heavy, catching with aggressive melodies, the chorus remains in your memory.
The last track is an overkill, I mean in a good way "We Are Puppets" because when you think that these guys had blown all their gunpowder, well think again because this song is a mind blower, lots and lots of variation, killer solos, cool riffs and a crazy chorus, man awesome stuff, double kicks all the way, so much shit going on that you wonder what the fuck? Their live performance is just the same, very tidy for a bulldozer out of control, great stuff, fans of KREATOR will love this album for sure.
The production is top notch and the art cover is also excellent, says a lot of what is going on in Brazil and in the World, religion and politics: the cancer of Mankind! "Moments Of Evil" is due sometime this month, only 1000 copies are going to be printed but you can download the whole album for free on the band's page and Facebook.
Spread the plague and Thrash Till death!!!
