Cielo Drive - Cielo Drive album cover

Since I don't know shit about this band, I'll begin by saying that I expected them to be a mediocre band producing nothing more but boring music. I guess I was wrong. Cielo Drive are a pleasant surprise for me, since they managed to avoid the categorization and develop their own unique sound. Let's see what do these guys have to say...
Cielo Drive were formed in 2002, in Athens, by A. L. X. , Stavi and Themis. In mid 2002, John was recruited as a singer. In 2003, a demo CD with cover songs was recorded with Stavi recording the bass. In late 2004, Panos was recruited as a bass player and in the summer of 2005, they recorded their Cielo Drive EP at the Names Studio with producer Lennart Wendt.
So, Cielo Drive is a pretty weird name for a band, isn't it? Anyway, this band is playing something between Alternative Rock and Nu Metal. Many biographies I read are saying that this band plays blah blah blah, but Cielo Drive are exactly what their bio note says! Very smart compositions that seem to be influenced by bands like Rage Against The Machine, System Of A Down and Sevendust. Songs that are characterized by the band's diversity don't let you get bored but I can confess I wasn't impressed either. It's not the band that made my day or something like that but this CD is worth every single minute. Their unique sound is what makes them special. They are one of these bands that you may never say, oh, this track reminds me of... The lyrics have to do with emotions like pain, anger, melancholy and disappointment... I would also like to add that the CD's last song, M. O. (Like Pain), is a great ballad that I can't stop listening to it every day! Even if it doesn't reflect the band's music, I think it's the best track in this CD! I am really impressed by the singer's voice in this track!
So, that's all I had to say about Cielo Drive's EP release. If you are looking for something different or unique, try to have a taste of their music by visiting their official site.
