Swedish, Göteborg(Gothenburg)-based five-piece Groove Death Metal band CHUGGER will soon release their first full length album "Human Plague", after having released their EP called "Scars" in 2013.

The band lists ARCH ENEMY, MEGADETH, LAMB OF GOD and AT THE GATES among their influences on their facebook page, and it doesn't take a long time to hear why that is. You'll only recognize MEGADETH during some of the guitar solos, but the other ones are definitely and clearly there from the beginning; in "The Grid", "Virus" and "Rust", and throughout the whole album, with "Endgame" and "Human Plague" as the, well, endgame.

What's particularly good about this band and this album are the vocals. Like a lot of Death Metal singers, David Dahl uses his heavy loaded voice to scream at the top of his lungs, but unlike a lot of other Death Metal singers, you can actually understand a lot of the words he sings. It's a nice change of pace, if you ask me. Another way they differ from other bands in the genre is that the guitars display a lot of Heavy Metal sounds and riffs, like in "Endgame", as opposed to a lot of Death Metal guitarists, who play in a more sinister way and more slowly, to create a sense of darkness and doom. Not that you won't get a sense of death and despair from CHUGGER, but hey serve it in another way, a little faster and  with a lot of energy, and more upbeat, like in, for example, "Cut Out From Hell".

In "Never Alone" and "Five Feet Down", Guitarists Robert Bjärmyr and Fredrik Carlstedt go a little more quiet in intro's and intermezzo's. The rest of the time they rock as hard as any other energetic Metal band. They are being backed with the solid drumming of David Pergament and the groovy bass playing of Henrik Östlund. As a whole they seamlessly keep your heads banging, together and all the way.
