Christian Rosander is a 22-year-old musician and songwriter from Örnsköldsvik, Sweden. He studied music for about 11 years, three of them in high school and two years in college. Since he was 14 years old, he'd been writing songs in the AOR/Melodic and Westcoast genre. His main influences include TOTO, H.E.A.T, QUEEN, CHICAGO, DEF LEPPARD among others and have been an important inspiration for his musical work. "King of Hearts" is Rosander's first solo album and contains eleven tracks.

"Online" opens the album. It has an easy listening sound, with harmonic vocals, and a big, rich chorus. AOR has been making a strong comeback lately and this is a fine example of that. It reminds me somewhat of THE OUTFIELD in the 80's, with a tasteful guitar solo. "She's a Killer" features keys and a bit of a melancholy sound. Rosander's voice is just so smooth and he has no trouble in the upper ranges. He really evokes some emotion in this song as well. "Angelina" has a TOTO vibe in the rhythm, with keys and guitars in equal parts and some nice harmonies in the vocals. Rosander really has a great voice. You have to wonder if it was a gift or if he had to work at it most of his life.

"Could this be Love" reminds me of the 80's anthem "St. Emlo's Fire." It's a reminder of better days gone by, and he tells it with passion and conviction. Those keys really stand out here and are a necessary part of the genre in my opinion. "Price of Love" is a ballad of sorts. It has a tender quality and here Rosander matches his voice so well with the music. This is something a lot of singers miss the mark on. They just go for broke and don't mind the melody. Rosander does this so well it is uncanny. "Only for the Night" has a little more funk to it. But some other instruments take away from the sound here a bit. It's really the only semi-miss on the album, as I had a bit of trouble staying with the melody line.

"King of Hearts" is the big emotional number on the album. Featuring a positive tone and lyrics, the chorus rushes in and supports the sound in the verses so well. You gotta love a guy who cares more about his songwriting then his ego, especially in today's world of music. "No Destination" closes the album, with keys at the forefront of the sound. It really sums up the album as a whole with its easy listening sound. Rosander lays down another tasteful guitar solo, and as it closes, a rush of positive energy comes along with it. Overall, this was a fantastic album, and just what I needed in an otherwise stressful time. Rosander just has a knack for quality in his songwriting and being that he did everything except for the bass guitar, he could control the product much better. Perhaps that is why the album is so synergistic. Kick back and let Rosander remind you of the good that is out there.
