Let's see some steps that someone would probably follow in order to write a review. By the time that he has the CD in his/her hands, the artwork and the overall layout makes the first impression. Then the editor listens to the CD as many times as he/she is able to, reading the lyrics and trying to find information about the band. After that the editor is ready to start writing a review.
Well, the last step that I wrote is the reason that this review will be one of the quickest ones! Tried everywhere to find anything about this band but, alas, I found nothing. And if it wasn't for my good friend Yiannis online to help me with the search, I wouldn't have even known that CHINE were formed in 2006, under the name CHAEOSTRIBE and that they've released two EP's. And that's all about these guys from Sweden. Just a reminder, you are not a 'cult' band or anything like that, so giving some info about you won't be bad.
As for Repulsive Sonatas? Fortunately it's duration is only 25 minutes. Unfortunately, I listened to it many times. This album is full of uninspired Death Metal with industrial elements. What a surprise! Believe me I could end my review here, but my chief editor will kill me if I don't write one or two lines more. It's not that they don't know how to play their musical instruments, but the album lacks inspiration. The vocals are flat, without any changes between the songs, the rhythms in 80% of the album are the same and I only find one or two riffs interesting. The production is for one more time crystal clear but if you can't write music the production won't save you. As for the lyrics, I tried hard to read them, but believe me, I am not going to destroy my eyes or use a magnifying glass to see them.
And now you will ask me you idiot, you are the one that said that everything has been played and that everyone copies older bands. You even put high rates to bands that you know they are copying someone else.... Well you are 100% right in two parts, the one with the high rate and the copying between bands. But some are filtering their influences and others are making good copies and it's fun to listen to, for example, another punk Rock album like RAMONES once did.
CHINE has to change many things and I don't mean changing their name again. They have to put down any good ideas they have, do something with the vocals so they don't sound flat and then we will see what they can do. As for now...
