Future Decay
Children Of Technology

The Italian troupe of CHILDREN OF TECHNOLOGY had really made an impression on me with their debut album "It's Time To Face The Doomsday" back in 2010. Four years later, a new lineup (enter Borys and Mad Jex), and follow-up album "Future Decay" is right at our doorstep. For those unaware, we're talking about an explosive Mohawk, bullet belts, leather-clad bat shit crazy post-nuclear Punk/Thrash crossover band here, with the required extra cheese on the side.
So what does "Future Decay" bring to the table? Nice ambient intro, that could easily be a soundtrack to a B-movie version of "Escape from New York". Taking aggression a step further, the gang continues their relentless Punk/Speed/Thrash assault, with the added NYHC-styled nutcase job here and there, like in the opener "Future Decay". There's no point going for a track-by-track analysis here, the album is fun as hell in its entirety. I mean c'mon. With song titles like "Fear the Mohawk Reaper" or "Eaten Dust Overload" you ain't expecting chamber music, right? Surely CHILDREN OF TECHNOLOGY are not trying to be innovative, and why should they? They got the attitude, the looks, and the sheer energy to blow you away.
That being said, I feel that this is a double-edged sword for the band. Somehow I get the feeling that they tried to play it safe compared to the previous album, almost like a step down from what I was expecting from them. While we have better production, making things even more aggressive than before, I believe that a take no prisoners approach to the song writing was called for here to complete the circle of destruction. Yeah, Punk ain't Progressive Metal or Jazz, but simple and dull are two worlds apart. Why the fuck settle for something safer when you can burn everything to the ground?
But enough with my grumbling, CHILDREN OF TECHNOLOGY are really good, and "Future Decay" is a solid release by any standards that you're bound to enjoy. Great follow-up to a killer album, I just hope next time they go on a killing spree again.
