CELESTIAL DECAY is a Symphonic Metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden. The band is generally composed of two principal players, sharing also the production positions and composing duties, Hobbe Houshmand and Freddy Olofsson. Both play guitar and were on top of the music for the development of the new "Quantum X" album with the help of some guest musicians that made their impact on this release like for instance Andreas "Andy" Sölveström of AMARANTHE / WITHIN Y.
Right when I started listening to the album, something stood out. It was the strength of the songs in general, a kind of feeling that isn't that obvious from most Metal releases nowadays. CELESTIAL DECAY uses strong orchestral parts for the enhancement of their flavor, solid rhythm sections that appeared quite tight and powerful melodies on the vocals with flashing guitar demonstrations. The album opens with the "Aftermath" which practically sucked me in and onto the whole album, and I instantly wanted to listen to the rest, and it eventually happened. The song intros with a somewhat mournful sounding (still beautiful) piano verse, and then brilliant and intense orchestral parts that swept this one. For a one minute tine, I was fairly impressed. By the time I got to the thirteenth track, which is a cover of Bonnie Tyler's infamous song "Total Eclipse Of The Heart", and I swear that you can hear that song everywhere nowadays, it didn't hit me. I wasn't too blown away by this cover. I rather was astonished by the deep essence of the tracklist, progressed, influential with musical performances that were no less than amazing.
In overall, I was very pleased of what I listened to. I expect a better future and things to come for CELESTIAL DECAY in their path to greatness.
