CARUBINE released their debut album "Futuredream" on Dead End Exit Records November 3, 2017. The trio hailing from Stockholm, Sweden bring a vintage hard rock sound. If asked to draw comparisons, one might mention KYUSS, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, FOO FIGHTERS, and maybe a touch SOUNDGARDEN. CARUBINE has a unique sound with broad appeal for the listener bringing elements of grunge, hard rock, psychedelic rock, and progressive rock.

The album opens with the title track, "Futuredream", a grungy, hard rock jam that also gives off a sort of desert rock vibe with a catchy, memorable melody.  "God On Drugs" features lots of guitar effects, and a very laid back stoner jam, psychedelic groove. Next up, "The Charm" has a 90's heavy, sludgy rhythm guitar sound going on. The harmony on the vocals adds a nice soulful touch. The track slows down awkwardly in the middle, and I was expecting something a little more climatic at the change, that just did not happen. Still, other than the awkward pause, the track is solid. "Wolf" brings intensity; like a wolf stalking prey in the night the song takes on a quiet, almost atmospheric tone, and then suddenly launches the attack and gets heavy.

"New Low" has a catchy vocal melody. This track has an outdoor festival feel to it. CARUBINE brings a darker, heavier sound with "Hades." This instrumental piece is a standout song on the album, because the Kling's winding guitar playing is just mind bending over the muddy bass line. "Scream" has a smooth, bassy quality, with subtle, clean, polished guitar licks. There's a dark, listless quality about the song that's haunting and pretty. The overall tone of the song leads me to believe it is an introspective piece about self destruction. "Futuredream" is well written and well produced. CARUBINE, with their particular mash up of hard rock is certain to appeal to a wide audience of rock and metal fans. Certainly the future looks bright for CARUBINE.
