Introducing such a big name with a great past as CANNIBAL CORPSE is a bit waste of time but a few words have to be written just for the records. Hailing from Tampa, Florida the home of Death Metal and starting their extreme career back in the early 90's with their debut album Eaten Back To Life, CANNIBAL CORPSE set their inimitable mark and helped brutal music (along with OBITUARY, MORBID ANGEL, DEICIDE and others) to be spread worldwide and us in the pleasant situation to experience the alternative world of a splutter/gore scenery. Also I couldn't hold myself to not mention that CANNIBAL CORPSE's Bloodthirst was not only the first death metal cd I ever listened, but also the reason this kind of music became my favorite for the most years I am into the metal scene and Bloodthirst one of my top recommendations.

But what happens today with the Cannibals, after so many years of existence?

Since The Wretched Spawn that is a quite often wonder before I push the play button on each of their new releases and I gotta tell you that fortunately I never get disappointed and neither I do now with Evisceration Plague. The predictable impression before someone listens to this new album would surely be that we have to do with just another CANNIBAL CORPSE album which steps in the same and usual musical paths and that is not very far from the truth (and who asked for something different from those guys anyway?) However the fact that from the time I got the cd on my hands until this moment, I haven't listened to anything else but I keep repeating it, leaves no doubt that this could be easily characterized as one of the best works the band has done so far.

The things that make it so special are definitely the modern production, with Erik Rutan as the responsible person once again, with the combination of Fischer's long and full of energy screams (only that this time it's like vocals are edited in some way from the production especially in the song Priests Of Sodom and still haven't read anything which rejects this idea) and the guitar brainwaves of Rob Barrett and Pat O'Brien. Lyrically I could say that again they didn't succeed to observe the christian proprieties but they made us, fans, smile...a bit! (What exactly are they thinking when they name a song Skewered from Ear to Eye really?)

To summarize, I bet that the fans of CANNIBAL CORPSE will be again more than satisfied by their work and will hope in a direct show and some hair-windmills from Mr.Corpsegrinder!
