Hello Temple, today I have gotten my hands on "Terrestrial"; CAMEL OF DOOM's new born. Formed in 2001 as a one man project by Kris, the band from Shipley, England are releasing their 4^th album of Psychedelic Progressive Doom Metal.

Interestingly enough, the band was created by Kris when he was only 13 years old. Now 28, he already has 15 years of experience under his belt. This type of experience does show in the maturity of the music that we hear on this record. "Cycles (The Anguish of Anger)" is a nice Progressive piece that incorporates all of this aforemtnioned maturity that is so characteristic of CAMEL OF DOOM. This is definitely the best piece of the album; 12 minutes of beautiful riffs and psychedelic melody. As you listen through this song, you will pass by multiple ranges of emotions; from despair and melancholy, all the way to joy and ecstasy.

"Pyroclastic Flow" falls slightly flat after the melody of the first song. It is also another 12 minute piece, but the flow of the song is linear and doesn't dip and rise as much. The song is motionless and the voice is always locked on the same tone except for some parts in the middle.

We are back in business with "Euphoric Slumber". The Progressive Doom style of this song is rather interesting. You go from a slow and deep beat to a psychedelic keyboard sound around the 4-5 minute mark that will let your mind wander.

The "Sleeper Must Awaken" is another slow-beat, 14 minute marathon. Although I was expecting some reference to Dune in this opus, it was more of a wakeup call for the listener as the album came crashing to an end. This is probably the fastest song of the album even though it is pretty slow. The amalgamation of instruments creates a beautiful melody and the keyboard backdrop increases the psychedelic effect.

Overall, this album by CAMEL OF DOOM is decent, but as Doom Metal is a niche, it is not for everybody. I really enjoyed listening to it, but I won't lie, I probably won't listen to it again in the future. So try a few songs before you spend your money, for it might not be for you.
