When MORBID ANGEL released "Covenant" back in 1993, the foundations of Blackened Death Metal were set. And ANGELCORPSE, NILE and KRISIUN pushed the boundaries of extreme brutality even more. And this form of playing Death Metal still has many adepts. One of them is the international trio CAMBION, and they're here to destroy ears and necks with their nuclear fusion called "Conflagrate the Celestial Refugium".

Their music is extreme, fast and brutal, with very good technical level (especially in the guitars), but in a way that a careful listener can see that they drank a lot from the source of Blackened Death Metal: early Teutonic Black/Thrash Metal (especially SODOM on "Obsessed by Cruelty"/"Persecution Mania" age). But don't take the wrong idea: they play fast, heavy and aggressive in a form that can crack the skies and split Earth on two! But even not being something extremely new, the way they do thing is really personal, and their brutality isn't without a good aesthetical sense. It's not just an aggressive form of noise (what an empty stomach can do), but it bears intelligence.

The band worked with Chris Erkens on the mixing and mastering, all to create a brutal and explosive sonority that was used by bands as them in the last years of the 90,s but with an actual feeling and trying to sound as defined as they could. And it works in a pretty good way, similar to what ANGELCORPSE's "Exterminate" sounds. Musically, each one of the eight songs of the album is screwing drill into the ears, but all of them very good dongs. But "Conflagrate the Celestial Refugium" (a fast and brutal song with technical arrangements, but the drums are amazing), "Vae Victis" (another very good shot, with fast tempos and insane guitars, both on riffs and solos), "Cambion" (that has the same features from the last one, but with a better work on vocals), "Impact Steel" and "Fatalitism" are the better ones to begin the slaughter of the ears.

CAMBION is a very good name from extreme Death Metal. "Conflagrate the Celestial Refugium" is really a very good release, but it's clear that the trio has potential to do something even better.
