A freshly-formed band from France lays its very first release at our hands, a five-track-demo submerging you for about twenty minutes into a genuine atmosphere of such a mind-crucifying gloom, and perhaps the bad recording quality was actually some kind of a plus for it did emphasize the tenebrous timber overwhelming along the tracks. Starting with a short intro that already shows us the ropes with wind sounds, bells, choirs as well as a heavily distorted spoken speech carrying the demo's name, additional "Oh" choirs and organs come in to complete the picture in "Vault Of The Haunted Mist" without forgetting the exotic scales (which have become however mainstream in the Metal scene). The tempo often marks open chord decrescendos followed by heavy guitar and bass tremolo crescendos, good material while taking the stage to ensure spreading an exceptional ardor across the crowds.

Among the main good points are undoubtedly the growls, amazingly deep and far low-pitched, which accentuated by echo effects, translate the morbid melancholy reigning along, despite the feeling that the vocals were sometimes scattered, with lack of ability to follow the song's structure such as on "Unspeakable Visions". As for instrumentation, echoed tremolos are incontestably the pillar of the demo, backed by an "it's okay" drumming mostly consisting of snares often alternated with smooth ride cymbals, but  it turns intro thrashy beats as in "Knowledge Of The Ancient Ones" of which the intro had the old school thrash imprint. On top of all, the long-awaited solo (for I had to await the forth track to detect it ) presented at least a decent tap, making me wonder whether shyly revealing one's potential might actually work for one's benefit. Nevertheless, technically speaking, the demo can be deemed as poor thing as some tracks end up to be a bore by their end, stating as an example the last track's bridge rather resembling to bronchial rattles, needless to mention that pointless repetition at any rate could be fatal, especially that one pillar note along the whole track. Consequently, it's advisable you listened to this demo on a live show rather than the studio record, as it foremost targets the atmospheric side rather than actual instrument "Olympic levels".
