Female forces to be reckoned with we have none other than Switzerland's own BURNING WITCHES with their self titled release. Raging guitars, hammering rhythm section and screeching vocals these ladies of metal really dish it out than most men, but that is not the issue here, but the way they deliver the musical goods is the important thing. Formed in 2015 in Switzerland by guitarist Romana Kalkuhl whom assembled a powerhouse team of talented individuals breaks the barriers into the metal scene bestowing head banging tunes that are well formed and ready to take over. One might get glimpses of CRUCIFIED BARBARA meets PHANTOM BLUE's technical guitar structures and a dash of JUDAS PRIEST (Painkillers-90) whaling screeching vocals but BURNING WITCHES own it all the way.

Vocally Seraina Telli has a wide variety of vocal styles that match the music anything from intense metal growls to brutally high pitched screams to clean melodic singing. Showing that style is song six "Save Me", which is a powerfully melodic song that has excellent lead guitar soloing, chunky rhythms and grooved bass lines. One thing that one will notice quickly about them there are many high screams that remind you of RONNIE JAMES DIO meets MOTLEY CRUE as a backing band. Not a bad comparison but after awhile one can scream so many times till it starts to turn bad. Seventh song "Creatures Of The Night" has to be that where all the high pitched screaming notes make you want to either blast the tune up or tune it down. Musically the band is well equipped where the songwriting is the main strength take song nine "Creator Of Hell", which is balanced with animated guitars that display some light sweeps of speed metal but twist it down a notch that the bass and drums spread out evenly together.

BURNING WITCHES is band with moderate technical aspects to their style but nothing over the top, but delivers their music face front. Overall the group are an extremely talented bunch from their recording production to song writing but just lack that certain something that is missing. Maybe I'm missing that certain something but regardless the band is on the right path and looking forward to hearing from this bunch in the future. If late ninety's metal is your thing then seek no more for these ladies of metal are ready to take you over.
