Ahh.... brutal Death Metal; the land of dead tree logos and vocals, so deep you can't even tell when a line is done. Hello BROKEN FLESH, welcome to the neighbourhood. The new self-titled album from this Death Metal band is bound to be roughly what you expect, not many surprises so I wont try to surprise you.

The good thing about this album, although 12-songs long, all the songs are 3 minutes or less and tend to vary as much as a Brutal Death Metal album can. Thing is, Brutal Death Metal doesn't really vary.. The vocals are bland, monotone and not very interesting as a whole. The instrumentals are fast, but offer no depth. It's hard to talk about something that offers so little attraction.

Every song on this album from "Valley Of Mass Crucifixion" to "Buried Alive" to "By His Blood", is the same idea. The drums are hit as fast as humanly possible, the vocals are low and one dimensional, the guitars might have a cool riff, but normally not, and the bass is inaudible. This is an album I just can not get behind saying it's swell.

That's it, BROKEN FLESH and their self-titled album. The album title is about as creative as the album itself. Maybe it's my lack of an ear for the brutal side of Metal, or maybe it truly is just that bad; but feel free to listen and judge for yourself.<
