First off, I would to take the opportunity to use an opening phrase that our reviewer CRAIG Rider usually starts off with: Metal Maniacs, Rejoice! BRAY ROAD hail from Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA and have been around since 2011. Before today they released two full-length albums, "Pounded Into Dust" in 2012 and "Feast Upon The Helpless" in 2017. In the years 2021 and 2022 they pre-released three songs that are also included on the record I am about to review. The title of it is "Focused.Fierce.Relentless", and it was let out of its cage on July 15th 2023. So we are talking about a trio with a lot of experience. The fact of the matter is that BRAY ROAD are not making it easy to review this album by simply stating which musical direction they are taking.
The reason for that being the fact that they are able to mix Heavy Metal with Power Metal, Speed Metal, Thrash and even Hardcore a little bit of Sludge to get to what they are capable of. It makes describing the music on "Focused.Fierce.Relentless" quite the challenge. One that I am not shying away from, but which I am confronting head on by telling you that the only way you would be able to believe what I am typing in this review is by having your own listen. So, that is what I am advising you to do. The main thing you need to know that it is definitely not a form of punishment to have to go through all the songs on "Focused.Fierce.Relentless". on the contrary, I am thoroughly enjoying the exploits of BRAY ROAD.
The band has a way to make all the influences and musical directions gel together into a rather coherent lot. The whole experience is made a lot easier and pleasant by the fact that in the 28 minutes plus that I have to undergo the ministrations I can only conclude that all the songs are above par, and sometimes even great. So, if you are someone who is not afraid to face your demons, who has a quite adventurous look at your musical endeavours, who enjoys listening to many a musical Metal genre, then you are the outspoken choice to have a good listen to "Focused.Fierce.Relentless". And, if like me, you have enjoyed the ride of listening to this amalgamation of styles that makes up BRAY ROAD, you might be prone to acquiring the full album. And to find out how the first two albums sound.
