This is the first album from the France Heavy Metal Quartet. They started in 2016 and this was released at the end of last year. I wasn't able to gather much information on the band but I know alot about their Record Label, one of the bigger independent dealers in Europe. Let's see what we have here!
The song titles are kinda unoriginal to be honest. I mean they are a Traditional Heavy Metal band but they seemed to have taken song titles from other bands of the genre like ''Angel in Black'', being a PRIMAL FEAR song and ''Deal with the Devil'' is a JUDAS PRIEST song, oh yeah there is also ''No Class'' which is a song title from MOTORHEAD! It may be a coincidence or not, I really cannot say but this strikes me as really odd before even listening to the album. I don't want to judge a book by its cover nonetheless. It may be an homage to those really awesome bands, I have tons of respect for that! First and foremost, they have a very unique singer. I don't know if it's the right word to describe him. The guy has some serious pipes even if at times the voice is pretty uneven. How can I describe him? Well it's like a mix of Bon Scott, Alexi Laiho and with a dash of Chris Boltendahl from GRAVE DIGGER. The guy has some gruff vocals. I think it fits well with the Traditional Heavy Metal style.
As for the production value of this album, well, it could have been better. It's pretty stripped down and it feels that the emphasis was on the singer rather than the instruments themselves. I think they wanted something really raw and it sure does sound like it. It's not a knock on the album, it's just I was expecting maybe a bit more but they are very young band and may not have the big budget to do something grandiose but they still did a good job keeping everything at bay.
The mastery of the English language might not be the best and I had some trouble with hearing the lyrics properly but I have learned in the last few years that's not important. You got to feel the music inside of you, let the rhythm drive you. I think that's the main goal of music in a sense. The guy has some serious pipes and has a energetic presence about him. I haven't watched the stuff on You Tube yet but you can feel alot of passion in his voice. His voice is unique and it gives the band a different feel. As for the rest, well this is old school Heavy Metal, this is as old school as it gets. Sometimes it sounds like early JUDAS PRIEST, sometimes you got some more faster songs that sound like PRIMAL FEAR and sometimes its like a heavier version of AC/DC. It is difficult to typecast them to one particular style, it's a great mesh of genres mixed into one pretty solid release.
