Bloodred Hourglass - Godsend album cover

Formed in 2005 out of Finland comes BLOODRED HOURGLASS and their latest album "Godsend". The Melodic Death/Thrash metal band has released four amazing full length albums during their tenure. With Jarkko Koukonen on vocals, Lauri Silvonen on guitars, Jose Moilanen on bass, Antti Nenonen on guitars and keys and finally Jarkko Hyvönen on drums.

Honestly I think this band also has some Black Metal influences as well as Death and Thrash. The first track "Waves of Black" blasts in out of nowhere and really sets the pace of the album. This song is really an amazing song. I enjoy how heavy yet melodic it is. I couldn't ask for more for sure. "The Unfinished Story" is really quite heavy from the first note. They really do not hold back which is something I really enjoy. "Devourer" is even more intense than the previous song. At this rate this album is going to definitely be one of my favorites of 2019. This song is beautiful yet chaotic at the same time.

"Alysia" starts off as one of the more melodic songs we have heard so far. It has a very epic feel to it which is quite enjoyable. It's definitely one of my favorites so far. It almost has a CHILDREN OF BODOM vibe to it. "My Route" is definitely different from anything before it. It has a techno sounding beat behind the instruments which honestly adds something different. The song is very catchy and one of the best songs I have heard on the album so far.

"Pieces" is another really well written song that I think fans of the band will really enjoy. It kind of reminds me of AT THE GATES meets SOILWORK. I found myself listening to this song a few times in a row. "Ask and you Shall Receive" is absolutely amazing, it has a very catchy riff and the vocals are on point as well as the other instruments. I think this may be the best song on the album all together. I will have to give the whole album additional listens to be sure of that. "August" is by far one of the heaviest songs that has graced my ears from this album. It's incredible and beautifully brutal. If you don't like this song, there is something wrong with you.

"On My Throne" is the second to last song on "Godsend" and it is one of the more Thrash leaning tracks that I have heard. It's a very fun song to listen to. The final song is "White Feather" which also happens to be the longest. It starts off with a really beautiful piano piece that slowly builds into a song of epic proportions. As they say leave the best for last and that's exactly what the band did. I think this is one of the best albums I have heard in quite a while.
