BLOOD TYRANT, just the name screams Black Metal. Naturally, my black heart had to jump into a band with a name like that. Now, this band goes back to the old school. Right from the get go, I can already hear heavy influence from the likes of the mighty DARKTHRONE (Guitars and Drums) and EMPORER (I'm talking "Wrath of the Tyrant" style keyboard effects). Of course, I don't mean to say that they are a carbon copied mix of the two, because they certainly have their edge.

The overall sound of the album, is the raw classic greatness that started it all. It doesn't really fall into that dreary same old repetitive shit either. They change it up throughout the songs and album, while still maintaining the overall feel. It will keep you headbanging. That much I can promise. I find myself reminiscing about my younger days, when I first discovered Black Metal. It's dark, ambient at times, brutal at others. I really find the drumming to be superb. His change ups are perfect. And there's a little bit of everything. Not just blast beats, and pumping bass. He throws in some interesting fills.

I only find one fault with this album. It ended before I was ready for it to end. The seven tracks are all enjoyable (to Black Metal fans), but they could have gotten away with a few more tracks. Really, this isn't much an issue, just an observation. It certainly will not lower the rating.

All in all, I found the album to be a little on typical side. As I said earlier, it really has a classic sound to it. They do however, throw their unique artistry into the mix. That obviously is something needed these days. Especially within the Raw Black Metal scene. Too often do bands sound alike. The music was great though.
