BLACK INSIDE hails from Italy, and it`s rather young band, starting out in 2009. After few band member changes, they are finally complete in 2011. "The Weigher of Souls" is their debut album carrying quite mature and diverse sound.
The album is a mixture of lighter and more powerful tracks with heavier and darker sounds. "Insomnia" is one of classical tracks of the Heavy Metal genre, while "Servant of the Servants" carries heavier Gothic sound. "Caronte" is one of the highlights on this release. You`ll get enchanted by the music, and addition of operatic background vocals during the chorus adds to one of those "out of this world" experience. "Fast as a Bullet" is the shortest yet catchiest track. It`s another one classics of the genre. "After The Pain" brings again distant scent of the Gothic. Slow paced, heavy-sounded track that will keep you on the edge whole time while you`ll listening. The title track is another highlight of this release with its compelling and explosive demonstration of "strength" wrapped in solemn atmosphere brilliantly created. "Zombies Tran" will surely get under your skin with its empathic-corrosive beats. Full force of groove and melody comes in a form of "20rs Old". The release closes with nine minute long "Gethsemane Suite", another masterpiece that`s been carefully composed from the beginning to the end. The riffs from this track will haunt you for days.
Although production lacks on some parts, that does not affect much on the amazing sound BLACK INSIDE offers. "The Weigher of Souls" is one of those albums that turn into classical ones after certain amount of years. It doesn`t bring any ground breaking innovation, but is carefully composed, showing all the richness that simplicity offers.
