Black Cargo - My Price album cover

BLACK CARGO hails from Cologne, Germany and My Price is their second self-financed effort (their same-titled debut came out in 2007).
Musically, My Price is the 'alter ego' of Rock 'n ' Roll with a Hard/Heavy edge. Drinking, screwing, drifting around...can you get the picture? Summing influence from the 60s/70s/80s - as long as you can call it 'dirty' Rock 'n' Roll, haha! - the songlist here presented is more or less bombastic. Fans of the original MOTORHEAD lineup's albums shall dig this one in ease. The 'trademark' vague production endorses BLACK CARGO's direction plus the leads are something we all love to listen to from such bands. Wah wah mania...! There are some psychedelic references here, too, in their 'rocking' components of course (e.g. HAWKWIND's dignity or even Jimi Hendrix's craze) plus some pre-NWOBHM parts...nah, more of a resemblance I would call it.
The mere drawback in this case is the singing part. The vocals are quite untrained, even naive at times, and do not convince they can step on and smash your face easily. There's a certain amount of energy, can't ignore it, but I think there's something ought to be done in this field. Trying to sing like a mix of Lemmy, Iggy Pop and Johnny Rotten shows a neat motive but it seems it's not that easy to hit the road.
If it wasn't for that vocals question, we'd talking 'bout a helluva hard-rock-n-roll party here. Even as is, to smooth it up a bit, My Price stands proud in delivering sweating dozes of filthy boozin' Hard Rock and you won't regret it, both in-your-face metalheads and driftin'-around Rock ' n Rollers/Stoner-heads. BLACK CARGO does have something up their sleeves...will have to wait now for their ace of spades.
