Black-Bone - Blessing in Disguise album cover

Is Hard Rock dying? Actually It's quite a hot topic, since Lemmy Klimster had to stop his concert in the middle, because of his health problems. MOTORHEAD is one of most influential bands, not only in the hard Rock genre and I think no one doubts that. Their influences are noticeable in BLACK-BONE's music. Imagine if THIN LIZZY got drunk with Lemmy Klimster. This 3-piece band from Eindhoven (Netherlands) pays quite a nice tribute to the classics. And a propos the question on the beginning- they're circa 20 years old (not band members!). The album, "Blessing in Disguise", was released on September 18th, 2015 via SPV/Steamhammer Records.

As I said before, in their music you can feel a lot of MOTORHEAD or THIN LIZZY. The album has pure power tracks like "Never Too Loud" or "Loaded-Weighted", pretty classy styled rock & roll like "Suicide (ain't no way out)", or groovy "Asherah".  That's a pretty nice mixture, reminding me of a car trip through a desert road during sunset. But there is one big struggle. This style, over the years, became hackneyed. Some may say it's a matter of preference, yet it's hard to say something more than" Oh, yeah, nice" when I feel like I heard this album before. I would be lying if I have said that I didn't have a good time. Three youngsters doing eastern-hard rock old stuff. That's not a bad thing, but it's not bringing attention. After the listening, I'm sure that these boys are able to do something to make the sound fresher.

BLACK-BONE has been rocking for a quite some time, with 220 gigs on their account. This album gives you a good excuse to go to a bar and drink a good porter. No thrills, but still quite enjoyable. Good performance and the old-school rock is worth the attention, but in the future they might sink into thousands of similar bands.<
