It his hard to ignore the fact that humanity has done its fair share of destruction to our planet, it is necessary for growing as a society, but the larger we get the more problems we face.

"Monstrous" by BEYOND GRACE addresses these the concerns of a planet controlled by the few and populated by apathy in the 12 minutes and 40 seconds of the EP. When a metal band tries to make a political statement it is not usually taken seriously. Music critics will point out indecipherable screamers and the use of fantasy imagery as the reason they cannot take.

The first track on "Monsterous" titled 'The Chronophage' tells the story of a time-consuming force tearing through time and space. The track makes a powerful statement about "devouring" our time. The track speaks of "ignorant" people who blindly go about their lives, not acknowledging that their time is being eaten away. Musically, it is the perfect intro song. It has a slow, ominous that builds quickly and escalates into a fast and frantic verse. The song slows during the chorus and the guitars take on a heavier, sludgy sound that reminded me a bit of Municipal Waste. A great track that sets the pace for the rest of the album.

Track 2 is titled "Invasive Exotics" and deals with the destruction of society through greed and government power-plays destroying the "lesser" creatures that happen to share the planet with them. The solo on this track is my favorite. It starts slow and melodic but builds behind the dual vocal track. It bleeds into the final half of the song and trails out nicely.

The final track on the EP is titled "Inhumanity" and concerns itself with abuses of power, war, and the effects of those things on humans. This ties all of the points in the album into one package. Beyond Grace cleverly addresses issues without sacrificing metal elements. The guitars are hard, the drummer constantly changes times and the vocals are brutal and harsh but easy to absorb. More important than the messages contained in Monstrous fact that it is fun. The subject matter may be ominous but the tracks are energetic and fast, great party music for all world-infecting layabouts out there.
