Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: BETWEEN OCEANS; signed via Prime Collective Records, hailing from Denmark grounds - performing Metalcore, on their debut album entitled "Renaissance" (released 22nd October, 2021). Since formation in 2015; the quintet in question have only released an EP entitled: "Oxymoron" (released in 2018), and this here debut album in their discography so far titled: "Renaissance". 9 tracks ranging at around 33:52; BETWEEN OCEANS arrange an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Metalcore developments.

Opening up with this apocalyptic "Intro" which unearths this synthetic potency on vibrantly techno atmosphere, an electrifying bombardment in Djent complexity as "Legacy" contrasts this manifest on progressively technical stridency. This thunderously thick rift revolves with this barraged frenzy on rumbling reverberation that trembles with rampantly rompy maelstrom remedies that unleashes a borderline foundation on meaty punchiness, melodic transparency & hybrid experimentation on widespread variety. For instance, consisting vocalist Nico Paidar (on clean vocals) & Mikkel Rützou (on the screams) both implement a dynamic discordance in densely high-pitched throatiness where both construct a zealous swerve on uniquely versatile yet sulfurous ramifications that yell with shouty synergy. While "Oblivion" impulses with more catchy grinds, dexterously killer laceration mobility & slaying archetype from guitar chugger Dan Nielsen.

The songwriting musicianship qualifies with profusely robust stability, where striking pursuits outbursts with this euphonic flamboyance on organic substance & melancholic mellow. "Pressure" scathes with vivacious layers of chaotic but melodic licks that transpires with desolate conundrums in distinctively distinguished entrancements as disjointed but thick riffs rush wildly with razor-sharp beats and belting clobbering in which persists with rollicking bass audibility from Patrick Christoffersen & rambunctiously piledriving drum hammerings from Daniel Winther. Both demonstrate a crunchy slab of solid grit and concretely impactful tempos that make way for a chorus to venomously inject an infectious downtempo of which makes one feel like on the edge for sure, while realising they need to dissolve all spirited tension with more of those Metalcore grinds and slaying panache. "Signal" unleashes more darker instrumentation, sweeping with salubriously volatile yet fragmented ethereality, as electronic counterparts intrude with harmonic heft – while visceral emotion in the vocals swift with momentous lyrics which haunts eardrums with despair and unorthodox spellbinds while rummaging with painstaking chimes with extraordinary furore, closing with this intriguing alt-rock spectrum for good measure.

"Breaking Point" distributes a linear breakdown converged with techy sturdiness while thudding with jumpy vigour, where rigorous eloquence in which merges with vivacious yet spectral sublimity while virulent and contorted diversity shrouds over you - as poignant malignance showcases rapturous listlessness. Elsewhere, "Watercarrier" counteracts as a melodious transformative of strong riffage throughout verse and chorus while speedy veracity implodes effectively as groove-bomb briskfullness smacks you with full force. As the penultimate track Crossroads" revels with similar characteristics, fabricating a fashionable trait on Metalcore segregation, which overall concludes "Renaissance" with the finale epic "In Your Eyes" which structures out both ambient and chiseling material where structured perseverance portrays with riveting yet celestial domination for speakers & souls to seclude themselves with in a mediatory state.

Bottom line; I am compelled to say that BETWEEN OCEANS most certainly outdone themselves for a debut, as guttural vocals motivate me more than the tidy variation - it feels a little erratic hearing both at the same time, but it's still somewhat listenable. Emo chords fused with those hardcore growls can feel disjointed; which might be my only gripe here, but for an immersive standpoint - they persist with this profuse magnitude with potentially talented flair in which makes this an enjoyably entertaining spin. Probably not re-playable, but a discovery worthy of playing at least once - check it out should you fancy fulfilling your Metalcore need with an archaic but flexibly fundamental experience.
