Ah Finland - the land of a thousand lakes and a whole lot of Metal. Finland and Sweden may me the more eclectic countries as Metal is concerned. You have pretty much every sub-genre imaginable and they are the ancestors of various Metal genres like Pagan Metal, Viking Metal and early Black Metal as well.

Following the footsteps of the forefathers of Finnish Death Metal, BEATING DEAD MEAT add their own spin to the somewhat stale genre. Death Metal, as a whole, has been on a downward spiral the last 10-12 years; traditional Death Metal hasn't been very present lately and the newer bands tend to concentrate on mixing a plethora of sub-genres to create an unique sound. BEATING DEAD MEAT tend to be more loyal to the basics of the genre. They don't reinvent the wheel and they probably would tell you that's it's not really important. They stick to their guns and give your ears a severe pounding of Extreme Death Metal.

Look, it's nothing fancy and damn it's still pretty effective. Nothing wrong with this at all. The name of the album is pretty freaking accurate : ''With Full Force''!! I mean it's pretty damn close to the truth. Every song is an attack on the senses, even with the instrumental opener ''2016''. I actually was surprised to hear an instrumental song to begin the album but I guess it's a case of the calm before the storm. Because starting with the second song ''Straight to Hell'', well everything gets faster and heavier. There is a great progression in the album as for intensity and overall energetic frenzy. I would consider the last song as an outcast. Being it's a tribute to the legends of PANTERA, they don't fit with the rest of the flow of the album itself. It's a mix bag of various PANTERA songs, with a harder edge and rough vocals. I haven't heard any covers of PANTERA in more than ten years, probably even longer than that. They added some more technical elements and at times it felt a bit chaotic, but it was fun revisiting some songs from this legendary band.

I had the time to read a bit about the lyrics of the songs. At times I felt that they were pretty infantile. Swimming in Piss...really? I mean what's the point. ''Posers'' might be the worst of the bunch for that but anyways it's not like we really take note of the lyrics on Death Metal albums nowadays! It's not really important but when you dig deeper in the lyrical content, sometimes it's kinda disappointing. Anyways, let's get to the songs!

''The Few and the Proud'' might be my favourite track off this release. It's the fastest song of the album and it's relentless! It's grabs you by the head and won't give up it's death grip! It's intense and it has the strongest moments on this album by far. It's nothing we haven't heard before but man is it headbanging worthy!

''The Powers that Be'' makes the rest of the band members shine. You have some really impressive solos and every band member makes the most of this opportunity. The singer does seem to give more space to the rest of the band and you can feel that they have a lot of talent nonetheless. It may be aggressive music but it's still very good. It might not be innovative but they stick to the basics of the genre and deliver a solid release.

While I wasn't immediately sold by the band's name - I was thinking this is definitely not a Progressive Metal Band or a Folk Metal band! - Don't let the name of the band fool you, other than some weak lyrics here and there, they deliver on all fronts and have plenty of promise.
