Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, USA, and featuring members of MUNICIPAL WASTE and D.R.I., BAT present us with this their first full length album called "Wings of Chains," and while their sound may not be very original, the world needs more bands like this, bands that keep the spirit of God errr, I mean Lemmy alive and bands that are just a whole lot of fun to listen to. Sounding like the bastard child of MOTORHEAD, ENTOMBED, CHROME DIVISION, and early HELLACOPTERS, all songs are short, sharp and sweet, you will not find elaborate prog segments or pseudo intellectual bullshit here, what you will get though is in your face and raw Death and Roll with a healthy dose of early Thrash.

"Bloodhounds" as the name suggests is exactly that, a ferocious, teeth baring opener, no long intro or build up but straight in with a riff and a tempo reminiscent of early MOTORHEAD before slowing down in the middle to groove and boogie.  "Code Red" is a slightly slower affair, starting with a somewhat grinding and chugging riff before falling into a hellish groove which gradually builds to a faster gallop, vocalist Ryan Waste spewing forth hatred towards the church, telling them exactly where to go, you can literally see his middle finger stretched out in their direction.  "Master of Skies" begins like it could have been taken straight off METALLICA's "Kill 'Em All" and which brings forth the aforementioned Thrash influences, another short song that wastes no time with fancy arrangements but is a short and fast Thrash attack to get your fists pumping. Simililarily one of the best songs here is an anthem of note that goes by the name of "You Die," a simple, unfancy but effective riff accompanies a chorus that will make the crowd frantic and the circle pit explode.

 If "You Die" was a contender for standout track then last song BAT surely takes the cake, combining a Bass rumbling along as if Lemmy himself was part of the rhythm section and a combination of early MOTORHEAD and D.R.I., the song is both catchy and heavy as fuck. Just like the final song and speaking of Bass, sixth track "Ritual Fool" has a cool as fuck bass riff towards the end, mid-tempo and groovy as fuck, a real face melter of a track that makes you want to get on the next available Harley with a hot chick on the back, a bottle of Jack Daniels in hand and cruise down the next highway. Although this is a short album, all its 29 minutes are totally worth it, good for a party or a massive circle pit this is the kind of music that gets the blood pumping and Horns raised. It is fun, doesn't take itself too seriously but at the same time is as mean as a Motherfucker. So, get a six pack, get wasted and crank it up to 11!!
