Rock N' Roll History
Backwater
BACKWATER released their new album "Rock N' Roll History" on 13th March 2020. It's a 13 track album with grind. The band are at current independent and released the album so. Personally I think they should be snapped up. The band are from Lausanne, Switzerland. The band have a Hard Rock sound to them and have the kind of songs you can hear clearly and learn the words to sing along. Marc Vermot on vocals gives the songs that crisp feeling of catching on & going with the flow. BACKWATER give us the "Rock N' Roll History" in the form of the 13 fresh songs. It's like the kind of music you could listen to blasting from the speakers or blasting through your headphones. The songs are heavy in riffs and beats with the vocals resting on top like frosting on a cake.
Opening the album we have song number 1 "Jack The Ripper." It opens with some classy beats on the drums & matching riffs on guitars. Then we are told about the story began, a song that has bite. The chorus is quality. You feel the rhythm as the instrumental kicks in towards the end. Song number 3 "Shine For Me" takes us in with the smooth lyrics & Hard Rock styled music. The guitar riff & drum instrumental is fantastic. It give you the image of the guitars being strummed. On to song number 6 "Welcome To My World," which is 4 minutes 37 seconds long. It opens with a few beats on the drums & guitar plucks followed by the vocals joining. I'd say this song starts with a slow tempo then kicks in with a harder beat & picks up the pace. Then it kinda slows down a bit again, mimicking the starting tempo. Song number 9 is "Angel Of Devil" which is a gentle ballad style song when it opens, giving us a softer side to BACKWATER. It's a song highlight to point out on the album. I'd definitely say it's been my favourite song on "Rock N' Roll History." Closing the album we have "Whisky In The Jar." No it's not a cover of METALLICA's song. It's a song that makes you want to get your head swinging to, feet tapping. It's a fine song to close the album on.
Overall I have enjoyed BACKATER's new album "Rock N' Roll History" it's an album to blast during lockdown & one you should share with the neighbours so turn it right up as loud as it will go! The album has plenty to listen to with 13 fresh new tracks. It's available on all major streaming platforms & on CD (if you can get out.) I've no complaints about the song or the album over all. The song writing is good & the music well performed. Hard Rock sounding & clear & concise. Can't complain at all. Really enjoyed it.
