I am not a such big fan of Southern Rock, but when it comes to professional Southern music, I must admit that this bunch caught my ear right from their opening track. You wouldn't believe that BACKDRAFT were not from the 70s. Their mission is to start the 70s revolution, they are here to spread the word, they are the CRASHDIET of Southern Rock. It is hard to believe it but they released their debut album, "Here To Save You All", ten years ago, had a few years break, did a second album comeback and now they release their new, and third, album "This Heaven Goes To Eleven".

With stoner riffs, energetic "Bonham" like drums, tight bass and a singer that was born for Stoner music, BACKDRAFT knew how to do the job done right. I was astonished by the fact that they were from Sweden since it is well known as the new superpower of GlamMetal and an old star of melodic Death Metal. BACKDRAFT holds roots of the greatest early 70s bands, I could hear a mix of THIN LIZZY, 70s AEROSMITH and LED ZEPPELIN, and yet they bring something very mature, original and easy to get addicted to.

BACKDRAFTdeserves the credit for going totally all the way with their Southern style that consisted of overdrive guitars and a singer that 70s Rock blood is flowing through his veins. The first song, "Idiot", will sweep you to a probable sing-along kind of chorus while in the background you will hear the great harmonica. "Yesterday & Today" is a strong track that has a very Rock N' Roll kind of anthem. You can say that BACKDRAFT attacked with rhythm guitar sections through all the songs along with thunderous drum bits, very melodic chorus although those weren't that closer elements of the sub-genre.

"E.C.G.T Blues" is one of my favorites here, it has deep heavily riffs, some PINK FLOYD influences, very simple structure but with a chorus so powerful, so groovy that brought so much boost and energy to the song. "Wheels Of No Fortune" is my top of the favorite list. It started with a western tune along with the sliding guitar that will give you the feeling of a cowboy sitting on a wooden rocking chair and smoking some good cigar in Texas. This is a relaxing tune with an emotional chorus.

The album was highly produced in the spirit of 70s Hard Rock. It really gave that feeling of freedom when Rock was so pure and real. Here you have a bunch of guys from Sweden that made Hardcore, Stoner, and American Rock music in its best of forms. I really enjoyed from it, they took me back to the early MOTORHEAD, THIN LIZZY days combining a mix of Country, Hard Rock, Rock N' Roll and in a high standard.
