Today we will turn the time dial back to the early to mid 70s'. In this review we are examining the band AXAS, and from all of the research I have done, you most likely have never heard of them. In the album BROKEN DREAMS we are greeted with a two disc set, that from what I can tell, is supposed to have a 20 page long history of the band included when you purchase the album, which I didn't get this for this review, so I am just going to wing it when it comes to knowing anything about the band, because frankly it is difficult to find. As for the music, I can listen to that and give you a decent depiction of what it is.
We are greeted with "Lucifer" as our leading track, and it is within this track you will realize that the music you are hearing isn't your typical hard rock, but is intriguing all the same. With the soothing voice of the lead singer and the easy listening sounds in the background, this album will have you ready to kick back, grab your favorite relaxation substance, and just vibe. Continuing on in this relaxing style we have "Goodbye America" rolling in next with its chillingly peaceful guitar and soft melodies that hold a deep message.
Picking up the pace slightly we have "Lyin On". Here you are introduced to the song through an intricate guitar riff leading you to the repetitive chorus like rendition of music done in such a way that it works well. Olden blues like sounds coming through your speakers to drive your emotions up while you just vibe to the music. Continuing on we get to "You Don't Have to Say You're Sorry" which is another song that has some more upbeat tones but draws in a lot of slow melodic work. This album is packed full of olden sounds that you may just fall to love if you give it a chance.
Now if you love olden slower rock music you will most certainly love this album. The different sounds, the retro feel, the chilling vocals, all wrapped around a very well written and thought out lyrics. This album most likely will not shatter any expectations, but will allow you a look into the window of a different time.
