AURIN is a female-fronted Alternative Metal band with powerful vocals from New Jersey, which was formed in 2002, with "Serotonin" being the band's third album to date. This album is a bold and energetic piece of work, as it comprises 7 tracks that fire the imagination.

The album kicks off with the track "Pause Rewind Repeat", which, in typical AURIN-style, throws the listener straight in at the deep end. With songs such as "Brother" and the title-track "Serotonin", this band shows its versatility and the lyrics show the depth of pain and loss in the album and expresses the feelings of guitarist Andrew Wayne felt upon losing his brother some years ago.

A modern sound with tones of angst and suffering, AURIN's upcoming third album "Serotonin" features the new bassist Lisa Toniolo. The songs are related to the struggle that comes to light after the death of a loved one and therefore, touch the listener deeply. "Hate You" is a particularly powerful song which delves into dark places. The music in this album is on point, modern and catching. It takes the listener to a place of wanting more; an album that you can put on repeat and listen to over and over.

This album is a bit different from AURIN's first 2 albums, as it takes a slightly different direction from the first 2 albums by the New Jersey band, perhaps a new road for AURIN? Fans of HALESTORM might enjoy AURIN - as this writer would give note to the similarities in vocal style and range. AURIN have written fresh new songs with a fresh new style for this album, which was released this summer. Another track to listen out for is "Sick", which is a 4 minutes and 12 seconds long song that fires the soul.

The album certainly shows that the band know their roots and where they come from and it also shows they have a clear direction of where they will go to in the future.  A band to follow as they keep gaining larger audiences. This writer envisions AURIN to be a band who will, in given time, be a headline act at many metal concerts and perhaps even festivals. One of New Jersey's finer talents, they produced an album that is easy to listen to and lyrically touching. The guitars and drums compliment the singer's powerful voice.

In my opinion "Serotonin" is an album for fans of powerful female vocalists that is truly worth sinking your teeth in. "Serotonin" is an album which reaches to deep and dark places. AURIN are a band who knows how to please their fans, with songs that remind us of our mortality makes us appreciate the fact that life is short. A must hear album.
