From their EPK, "Underwater" is the fourth studio album by Italian Progsters AURA and comes seven years after the last discographic effort. They play a combination of styles summarized under the Progressive Metal genre. Their music features odd time signatures and dynamic tempo changes, dreamy melodies, heavy guitars and clean vocals. With their new album "Underwater" AURA are ready to wrap you in their incredible universe made of intense melodies, dreamy atmospheres and the usual great technical skills." The album contains nine songs.

"Lost Over Time" is the first. The vocal harmonies in the beginning are very pretty, and the music supports them well. Delicate, charming and beautiful, this song favors melody over technical skill. "Keep it Safe" features a heavier riff but still retains that accessible melody. Although slightly sad, it's appealing in other ways. This song could be one that you hear on the radio. The keyboard and guitar solo exchanges are quite competent. "On Time" is another tender offering with moving vocals, bulky bass notes, and wonderful vocal harmonies. The mid-section is just a bit tense, but the original sound returns.

"Time to Live" is another beautiful offering, with vocal harmonies that soar, flying high into the clouds. The guitar solo in this song is also very supportive, without taking over the sound. "My Last Words to You" is a more delicate song, with charming bass notes and more soothing vocal harmonies. Emotions run high in the chorus, as the sentiment of the song comes through. It makes you feel sad for the person singing it, but also fills you with warmth. "Eternal Bliss" is a heavier sound, with a slower pace. Melodies still abound, especially in the gentle verses. "Lights Behind the Clouds" begins with spoken words and cheers from a crowd. It's an instrumental, with brutally powerful melodies that are both subtle and deafening at the same time.

"Underwater" closes the album. It's a culminating song with both vigor and soft melodies. If you let the melodies sneak up on you, it's amazing how well they grab you and pull you in. These kind of hooks are the kind that melody lovers crave. This was a poignant album, as well as one where the obvious skills of the musicians are tempered by their love of melody. This has to be hard when the focus is on the songwriting and not technical mastery, but it's worth it in the end, as memorable songs are created in this lovely landscape.
