ASSACRENTIS is a French Symphonic Black Metal band from Nice, France. These fellows have been performing the black arts for 15 years. 2013 hailed special for them as that was the year that their first full length album, "Put Them To Fire And Sword", was released. Now although the symphonic elements are rather minimal in this cd, still those elements are there and enhance the sound in quite an elegant fashion. I can tell you now that the melodic Black Metal sound that they produce is downright awesome, and definitely helps get them out of that "typical" Black Metal sound.
The feeling I get upon first starting the cd right up until the end is dark, grim, heavy, and melodic. The vocals are mostly harsh, and let me tell you, DAGOTH has the perfect voice for the music. It suits perfectly. The guitar work is great, especially considering that there is only one guitarist. The drums are superb; fast and intricate. As a whole the band is very well put together. All of the transitions are quite smooth. They produce a melodic Black sound that is by no means short on ambience and depth. I would compare them to the likes of DARK FUNERAL meets DIMMU BORGIR, meets DARK TRANQUILITY. Every track is just bad ass.
I was impressed with and hooked the moment I hit play. These guys are on top of their game. From start to end, they put all they got into the music. Their unrelenting speed and ferocity is complimented to the fullest by their melodic / symphonic edge. There is not a dull moment at all. These guys certainly have the potential to become one of the greats of their genre, and quite frankly I can't believe they aren't more well-known than what they are. Fantastic.
