Archer - Culling The Weak album cover

Ever since becoming a part of the underground Rock and Metal scene I have seen an ever expanding growth of Hard Rock bands in this commune; the latest one to hit my music collection are Santa Cruz trio ARCHER and to say they will be turning heads is a huge understatement.  They bring fourth their latest instalment "Culling The Weak" and it seems this is one of those albums that does exactly what it says on the tin.

This trio hailing from Santa Cruz, California are more than determined to deliver the most unrelenting Hard Rock to fans everywhere. Their unique musicianship on this record provided me an excellent insight into their hard hitting Hard Rock and Heavy Metal; it's no wonder they are climbing up the ladder of success and they are not about to stop.

Onto the album itself; it gets off to a promising start with the opening track "Belief" with its dominant vocals, hard hitting guitar riffs, pounding bass line and thunderous drums. It sets up the tone for the rest of this brilliant piece of work that will only open so many more doors into the Rock and Metal sphere. The album only from that point shows strength, power and beautiful sounds.

From that point on the album grows bolder and more developed; I often compare new sounds to plants, with the right care and nutrition they continue to grow and blossom beautifully. Tracks that demonstrate this exquisite metaphor; the tracks "World Of One", "King For A Day" and "My Atorcity". It's enough to make any cloudy day like today nice, bright and cheerful; the highlights for me include the impeccable vocal work, it reminds me of some of my favourites in Hard Rock, including JETTBLACK, REV THEORY and HEAVEN'S BASEMENT.

So overall, a brilliant record that will leave many opportunities wide open.
